Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 27, 2026
True That! is a real-time fact checker for iPhone and Apple Watch. It was built privacy-first: we collect the minimum needed to run the service, and we never sell your data, show you ads, or track you across other companies' apps and websites.
- Audio is not recorded or stored — it lives in a rolling buffer that clears in seconds.
- Only short text snippets of a claim ever leave your phone, and only to check it.
- You use the app without an account — no name, email, or login required.
- No ads. No tracking. No data-selling.
Who we are
True That! is operated by SignalCue. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at support@signalcue.net.
What we collect
We collect only what the service needs to work:
- An anonymous app identifier. On first launch we create a random, per-install ID (and a device token) to authenticate your device to our server and count your usage. It is not tied to your name, email, or a real-world identity.
- Usage data. We keep a count of the "deep checks" you perform so we can enforce your plan's monthly allowance. This is product-usage data used only to run the service.
- The claims you check. When you fact-check something, the short text of that claim is sent to our server (and our AI provider) to produce a sourced verdict. We use it to answer your check.
We do not collect your contacts, location, health data, financial information, browsing or search history, or any advertising identifiers.
How audio and transcription work
During a fact-check session your device listens and transcribes speech to text. Audio is held only in a short rolling buffer and is not saved by True That!. To turn speech into text, audio may be processed by Apple's speech-recognition service as part of the operating system. Only the resulting text — the specific claim you want checked — is sent to our servers. We never store your audio.
How your data is used
- To transcribe speech, extract check-worthy claims, and return a sourced verdict.
- To authenticate your device and enforce your plan's usage allowance.
- To operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or building a personal profile, and we do not use it to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. We share the minimum necessary with service providers who help us run True That!, each acting on our behalf:
- Anthropic — processes the claim text to generate the fact-check verdict.
- Apple — provides speech recognition (as part of iOS/watchOS) and the App Store.
- RevenueCat — manages subscriptions and entitlements (when you subscribe).
- Our hosting provider — runs the backend that meters usage and returns verdicts.
We may also disclose information if required by law.
On-device processing
Many checks are answered instantly from a verified claim library bundled inside the app, entirely on your device — those never leave your phone and don't count against your allowance.
Data retention
Audio is never retained. Claim text is used to produce your verdict and is not kept as a personal profile. Your anonymous ID and usage counts are retained while your install is active so your allowance works correctly. You can request deletion of your data at any time (see below).
Your choices and rights
Because we don't require an account, we hold very little about you. You can:
- Turn off "Send verdicts to Watch/Glasses" in Settings.
- Delete your check history in the app at any time.
- Request deletion of the data associated with your install by emailing support@signalcue.net.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data; contact us and we'll help.
Children
True That! is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
International users
True That! is operated from the United States. If you use the app from outside the U.S., your information may be processed in the U.S. and other countries where our providers operate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, provide a more prominent notice.
